Gubad Ibadoglu was elected member toInternational Boardof Extractive Industries Transparency Initiatives
The election for selection of new members to Extractive Industries Transparency Initiatives (EITI) was held in recent days. According to the information received by Nomination Commission, GubadIbadoglu, the member of Management Board of Economic Research Center ( ERC) was elected to International Board of EITI as a full member for the next two years. After the next conference dedicated to the Initiative to be hold in Sydney on May, G.Ibadoglu will launch his mission officially as a representative of Eurasia region civil society within the EITI Board.
It should be noted that EITI is an international initiative that reveals data regarding revenues gained from production of natural resources. The EITI also involves a coalition of governments, companies, civil society groups, investors and international organizations. This is reflected not only in the EITI processes in the countries implementing the EITI, but also on the international level: the EITI Board consists of members from governments, companies and civil society, and is appointed at the bi-annual EITI Global Conference
Azerbaijan has joined to implementation of this Initiative since 2004. The civil society was represented by Coalition for Improving Transparency in Extractive Industries which has over 160 members. The nomination of G.Ibadoglu for International Board of EITI was initiated the Coalition Council.
